1. Service Description

DART is a hosted PDF-to-accessible-HTML conversion service operated by Chiron Courseworks LLC ("we," "us," "our"). The service uses artificial intelligence, including third-party AI models provided by Anthropic (Claude), to analyze and convert PDF documents. By using the service, you agree to these terms.

DART is a tool-assisted conversion service. The conversion pipeline relies on AI-powered text extraction, document structure analysis, and HTML generation. Outputs are produced algorithmically and are not manually reviewed by a human unless you purchase a separate manual review service.

2. No Guarantee of Output Quality or Accuracy

DART outputs are provided "as is" without any warranty of accuracy, completeness, or fitness for a particular purpose. Conversions are not guaranteed to be error-free. Output quality depends on the quality, structure, and complexity of the input PDF.

While DART targets WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, we do not guarantee that every output will fully meet WCAG 2.2 AA or any other accessibility standard. Complex documents with unusual layouts, scanned images, handwritten content, or non-standard formatting may produce incomplete or inaccurate results.

You are solely responsible for reviewing and verifying all DART outputs before publishing or distributing them. Chiron Courseworks LLC does not assume responsibility for accessibility compliance of your published content.

3. Third-Party AI Services

DART uses Anthropic's Claude AI models as part of its conversion pipeline. Your uploaded documents are processed through these third-party AI services. By using DART, you acknowledge and consent to this processing.

We do not control the availability, performance, or behavior of third-party AI services. Service disruptions, model updates, or changes to third-party APIs may affect DART's output quality or availability without prior notice.

4. Credits, Payments, and No Refunds

DART operates on a credit-based system. Credits are deducted at the time a conversion job is submitted, based on the page count of the uploaded PDF.

All credit purchases are final. No refunds will be issued for purchased credits, whether used or unused. If a conversion fails due to a system error (not due to input quality), credits for that job will be automatically returned to your account balance — but not refunded to your payment method.

No refunds will be issued for conversions that produce unsatisfactory results. Because conversion quality depends on input document quality and AI model behavior, we cannot guarantee results. You assume the risk that any given conversion may not meet your expectations.

5. Acceptable Use

  • Do not upload documents containing protected health information (HIPAA) or student education records (FERPA) without a Data Processing Agreement in place.
  • Do not upload copyrighted material you do not have the legal right to process or convert.
  • Do not upload documents containing classified, restricted, or export-controlled information.
  • Do not abuse, overload, reverse-engineer, or attempt to disrupt the service.
  • Do not use the service to process documents for illegal purposes.

6. Data Handling and Retention

Uploaded source files (PDFs, images) are stored securely and automatically deleted after 30 days. Generated accessible HTML outputs may be retained indefinitely for quality assurance, analytics, and service improvement purposes.

We do not sell, share, or use your uploaded documents for any purpose other than providing the conversion service. Documents may be processed by third-party AI services (Anthropic) as described in Section 3.

7. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, CHIRON COURSEWORKS LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO DAMAGES FOR LOSS OF DATA, ACCESSIBILITY COMPLIANCE FAILURES, REGULATORY PENALTIES, OR BUSINESS INTERRUPTION.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO THE SERVICE SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE SPECIFIC CREDITS USED IN THE TRANSACTION GIVING RISE TO THE CLAIM.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICE WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR THAT OUTPUTS WILL MEET ANY SPECIFIC ACCESSIBILITY STANDARD.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms at any time. Continued use of the service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. Material changes will be communicated via email or a notice on the service.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of New York, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes arising from these terms shall be resolved in the courts of New York.
